Basic Information:This medicine is an antibiotic used to treat acne. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Information:Before using
WARNING: This medicine may be absorbed into the bloodstream and rarely cause severe (in some cases, fatal) intestinal problems (pseudomembranous colitis). Notify your doctor immediately if you develop persistent diarrhea, abdominal or stomach pain, or blood/mucous in your stool. Your doctor will decide if you require other treatment. These symptoms may occur weeks after stopping use of this drug. Do not use anti-diarrhea products or narcotic pain medicines if you have these symptoms. These products may make the symptoms worse. Your doctor will monitor you closely while you are using this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions or allergies.
Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Clean and dry the affected area. COVER THE AFFECTED and surrounding areas with medicine. TO APPLY THIS MEDICINE: the medicine comes in a bottle with an applicator tip. Use the applicator with a dabbing motion. Tilt the bottle and press the tip firmly against your skin. If the applicator tip is dry, turn the bottle upside down and press the tip several times to moisten it. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Cautions
SEVERAL WEEKS MAY PASS before you see improvement in your acne. Continue using this medicine for the full time recommended by your doctor. If your acne does not improve or gets worse, check with your doctor. DO NOT GET THIS MEDICINE in your eyes or on the inside of your nose or mouth. If you accidentally get the medicine in your eye, immediately flush with a large amount of cool tap water. DO NOT USE OTHER MEDICINES OR CLEANERS on your face unless otherwise directed by your doctor. FOR WOMEN: IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.
Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include dry skin or mild stinging after applying. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience skin rash; swelling, redness, burning, or peeling of your skin; stomach pain; or diarrhea. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
