Follow the directions for using this medication provided by your doctor or pharmacists. Take this medication on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before or one hour after a meal. Swallow tablets or capsules with liquid. Swallow extended release tablets or capsules whole. Do not crush or chew. Pentaerythritol tetranitrate should be stored at room temperature in tightly closed containers. This medication loses potency if exposed to heat or moisture. If you skip a dose, take your medication as soon as your remember. Do not double your dose. Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.
How Drug Works
Pentaerythritol tetranitrate dilates (widens) blood vessels, which increases the oxygen supply to the heart, thereby preventing chest pain and reducing high blood pressure. It is not effective in relieving angina pain once an angina attack has begun.
